Land Navigation

This one day, 8-hour, course provides students with an in-depth understanding of land navigation techniques. This course includes classroom instruction as well as practical application in the field. All participants will have an opportunity to test the knowledge gained by using a variety of navigation techniques.

**Students should expect to spend several hours walking through natural terrain. Adequate footwear and weather appropriate clothing and gear is required.

  • Closed toe shoes/boots
  • Long sleeve shirt/pants
  • Weather appropriate gear
  • Compass, GPS (optional)

Class INCLUDES:

  • Basic use of a map and compass
  • Coordinate systems
  • Use of GPS (time permitting)
  • Alternate navigation techniques
