Frequently Asked Questions
What is different about Asymmetric Solutions from a normal shooting range?
Our facility was designed as a training center for special operations units and is still primarily in use by them today. Unlike a standard shooting range we use an open dynamic environment that realistically simulates a real world threatening encounter. Additionally, our instructor cadre is comprised of highly experienced veterans of military and law enforcement special operations units. Their techniques and methods have been proven effective under combat conditions. A CCW class and permit makes you legal to carry a firearm. Asymmetric Solutions courses can make you capable of using it to adequately protect yourself and others.
What is the minimum age for participants?
Participants in the Basic, Level 1, and Level 2, and courses must be at least 18 years of age, or 15 years of age with a parent or guardian attending the same class. Participation in Level 3 and Mission Specific courses for participants under the age of 18 will be allowed on a case by case basis with instructor approval.
May I bring a camera and take pictures?
Yes, cameras are welcome on our civilian ranges; however, please get your instructor’s permission before photographing him/her as many of our instructors are sensitive to exposure because of their former careers.
Do I need to bring my own equipment and ammunition?
We suggest you bring your own equipment and ammunition but offer rental firearms, accessories, and ammunition for sale. Please look at our Recommended Equipment page for suggestions or email us at [email protected] Rental equipment is available on our Rental page. At the end of our basic classes we do provide equipment free of charge for students to experience.
What do I need to bring to my course?
We provide a checklist for our courses. Please look at our Checklist page.
Why do the round requirements for your classes seem lower than other schools?
We believe your time and ammunition are both valuable. Our courses are designed to teach you techniques and tactics. The courses have the necessary repetition to get you to proficiency. Instead of needlessly repeating exercises past the student’s point of proficiency or encouraging tactically inefficient mag dumps we prefer to let you use the time you paid for to learn additional technique or tactics.
Can I get open range time without instruction?
Yes. We have open supervised range time on our course calendar. If you have interest in using the range for a specific purpose please contact us.
